Hatsumi Masaaki – Founder of Bujinkan Dôjô

The organisation, Bujinkan Dôjô, was founded by Hatsumi Masaaki to be a single body consisting of nine different ryûha of old Japanese warrior arts (of which he was made sôke, or family head), teaching them as one. The united art of these nine schools was dubbed Bujinkan Budô Taijutsu, often simply referred to by its practitioners as Bujinkan Budô or simply Bujinkan.

While the art is treated as a single thing, and is trained as such in the earlier ranks, each ryûha is still dealt with individually in the higher levels to properly understand the philosophies, principles as well as techniques of each and learn how they differ yet also how they are similar and communicate well with one another.
